Liana Kaiwai

Liana (Ngāti Porou, Te Whakatōhea) joined Motu as an intern for the 2015/2016 summer period after completing the first year of a Bachelor of Business in Economics at Auckland University of Technology (AUT).

Her passion for helping others developed through her current role as an AUT student ambassador, and continues into 2016 as a Māori mentor to first year business students. In addition, her interest in human rights encouraged her to launch AUT’s first Humanitarian Club, receiving support from both the Human Rights Commission and Amnesty International New Zealand groups.

While at Motu, Liana worked with Arthur Grimes and Jamie Ataria (Lincoln) on the Marsden Wellbeing and Sustainability project, investigating the impact of human waste on Maori values.
